Cloud Service Researcher

Ever wish there was a way to literally ask your cloud products for metrics and insights -- without having to dig through logs or many views?  What if you could ask AWS for “health metrics on your cloud assets”? Or ask Zendesk, “which cases have exceeded SLA thresholds”?  Or perhaps you want to ask Salesforce.com, “which opportunities have more than 80% probability of closing that represent more than 10% of the quarterly target revenue”?  Currently, each of these requires deep product knowledge to answer, but what if there was a better way? That’s precisely what we’re building -- a better way to ask insightful questions of cloud products without requiring users to be experts.

We’re looking to hire researchers passionate about popular cloud services -- think ServiceNow, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, JIRA, Zendesk, Salesforce.com, Okta, WorkDay, Slack, and many others that span multiple needs and uses.  Your goal: research and identify insightful questions and metrics about each cloud product that will delight users, when they see answers in the Insight Engines platform.

You Will:

  • As one of the first researchers amongst our technical and design teams, you will help build research culture and processes from the ground up
  • Be a key contributor on a dynamic and dedicated team of creative people making new ways for everyone to interact with data
  • Research documentation and best practices guides for each cloud service, in order to identify relevant and useful metrics and data sources
  • Design and execute research plans to address questions critical to business direction and customer experience -- maybe you’ll use surveys, concept testing, interviews, or usability testing. Your research may directly inform strategy and decision making.
  • Understand how existing interfaces for these cloud services fall short of users’ needs
  • Work closely with engineering to identify the right metrics to pull from cloud service APIs
  • Collaborate with the Design Team on how best to visualize these metrics in an easy, fresh way
  • Iterate with our Knowledge Engineering Team, in order to provide a lexicon of words and phrases typically used by customers when talking about these metrics and concepts
  • Analyze and synthesize research findings into actionable insights that inspire and empower teams to make better decisions
  • Advocate for high-quality research and user-centered thinking throughout the company

You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience either using, building, or configuring at least two (2) popular cloud service platforms
  • Previously researched cloud service product documentation, training videos, best practices guides, community forums, and/or developer (API) guides to solve problems
  • Experience in agile development and working with teams that move fast
  • Strong analytical ability with bias toward data-driven decisions
  • Worked with customers to identify and collect feedback
  • Clear and precise written and verbal communication skills

Bonus points if you have:

  • An understanding of cloud security and IT markets
  • Computer science, engineering, or technical background
  • Experience with search, natural language, and machine learning technologies
  • Experience supporting both enterprise and consumer companies
